Apple Camp 4 Kids Summer 2009 – FREE!!!!
This could be the best summer yet.
It’s not easy to keep your kids entertained this summer, especially for those old enough to put the ‘I’m SO bored” mantra into their (and your) every day auto repeat verbal comments. Trust me, I completely remember. One thing that I have found that helps out with managing stress and keeping the summer cool despite the heat, is to stay BUSY. With social media being an absolute must in our society today, why not get some time out of the house and introducing your kid to the power of navigating the new media that is for sure to be a mandatory and essential skill in their lifetime?
This summer, your kid could make a movie, create a photo slideshow, write and record a song, put on a show for everyone, and have a blast doing it all. At Apple Camp, kids learn how to do cool stuff on a Mac and discover their hidden talents along the way. Apple Camp occurs at every Apple Retail Store, and each free workshop lasts three hours. Sign up your kid today and get ready for an adventure. Recommended for kids ages 8 -12.

MAC Style Warrior Spring/Summer 09
Just in time for summer, MacCosmetics is launching the Style Warrior line. I’m really liking the whole bronzy-safari look, and I’m excited to see the Solar Bits return…although I probably have enough from last year to get me through this summer too.

Just in time for summer, MacCosmetics is launching the Style Warrior line. I’m really liking the whole bronzy-safari look, and I’m excited to see the Solar Bits return…although I probably have enough from last year to get me through this summer too. I might splurge on the Lustre Drops too, although I just got the Fresh face illuminator and that will be way plenty…but one never knows once I get in a Mac mood!
You know what I really wish they would come back with is the volcanic ash body exfoliator. That was the B.O.M.B.!

Damnit Edna! Mac Rant 09
Oh MAC, you have done it yet again. First with the Heatherette line from last year, and now with cruise ship extrodinaire Dame Edna. Can you say *barf*?
I mean, I do realize that draq queens need thier products too, but couldn’t you come up with a fantastic fierce queen? There are TONS of them out there..but no, MAC wants to come out with an entire line devoted to this. What’s next MAC? A Mimi line? Ugh.

Shu Uemura
Okay…so I’m sure your looking at that title thinking “what the heck is that?” Let me tell ya…its the next best thing!! Shu Uemura is actually a Japanese guy, make artist and founder of the cosmetic line. I recently needed some eyelashes and found the mac lashes to be over dramatic, I couldn’t handle it!! Some of us ARE NOT eyebrow-nista’s like Ms.Syl; therefore we cannot handle applyling indiviual lashes. So I proceeded to ask the make-up chicks “Natural lashes..I need natural looking lashes?” That’s when I meet Nicole, my new eyelash artist. Nicole had a wide array of lashes, some super dramatic others lavishing. I was impressed. What most impressed me was the simplicity of applying lashes. She showed me how to snip a corner of the front and then use a q-tip to apply the lashes. After the lashes are applied, use mascara to blend and Wah-la!
Next time your looking for lashes, I personally recommend Shu Uemura.

Manish Arora for MAC
Have you heard of Manish Arora? No you say? Me neither. BUT I do love the whole eastern influence and vibe as an outsider/observer.
I looked up Manish Arora on Wikipedia and found a few club-kid inspired pieces which perhaps is more in the vein for the Fafi and Heatherette fans (read: young) but I do think that this line warrants a personal visit to the MAC store to check out at least a couple of pieces, and for the record, one of the lipsticks in the collection “Girl About Town” is a MAC signature line color repackaged for this collection AND most of the items on the website MacCosmetics.com are sold out. But I suppose most collections have a few signature line repeats thrown in for a more stable and classic ‘filler’, kind of like how Russian Red was thrown into the Cult of Cherry collection (which by the way, I totally TOTALLY loved.)
Anyway, if you do some shopping on the MAC site, you can use code “MANISH” on any order to get free shipping.

Honed to the Bone…Really?
dud. Look what I just got in my inbox this morning. BEFORE my morning joe, mind you.

WHY are there scribble penis-bots on this mailer? WHY? I’d like an answer, please. One of the images that I think of when I see a mailer from MAC cosmetics is NOT a pluthera of hand drawn penis sketches, ESPECIALLY before I drink my coffee. Thank you.

MAC – Cult of Cherry Fall 2008

Yay! I adore Fall, and MAC is coming out with a new line called Cult of Cherry. I know, the said photography DOES look rather emo and dated, I mean really…who wears cherry print anymore? BUT from a makeup view, I am ALL about chocolate cherry, so I’ve decided to call it just that: Chocolate Cherry for Fall 2008. I saw also that a few other lines are coming out with a Decadence line which has alot of truffle and chocolate colored palattes, but since I adore MAC and it’s heavy pigmented color, AND love chocolaty stuff, praise be the Chocolate Cherry look. Some old standard colors are going to be celebrated with this look, Russian Red, Diva, Cork, etc…but the fresh and exciting addition to this look is going to be the shiny green accent color that seems totally appropriate as the green stem of a chocolate colored cherry. Fabulous!
I’m going to be doing a Cult of Cherry look on youtube this week, so stay tuned! The MakeupGirl.com has a full detailed list of all the colors and descriptions so be sure to check it out!

Mac’s Recycle Program
Does anyone know if the MAC recycling program of returning 6 empty containers is actually good for any product, or is it just the lipsticks? I remember hearing somewhere that the Viva Glam products are exempt from the program, but I’m just wondering because it’s time to start tossing my winter stuff. thanks!
