MAC Releases Naked Honey

I love the promotional photo of the MAC Naked Honey line, but I think that is where the love ends. I have a strange sort of phobia re: honeycomb usage in design. Maybe because I am a designer, and is just not something you do…kind of like using helvetica as a title treatment. Anyway, if packaging doesn’t bother you, and you like honey-scented stuff, you might want to try out the Naked Honey line.

The bodycare line touts: A sensuous cream made from bio-converted honey and vitamin E derivatives, which to me doesn’t really tell me alot about the ingredients in the stuff. If it has alcohol in the first 5 listed ingredients, I totally do not recommend it. But that’s just me, giving you my opinion. I might try the Buzz tinted lipglass, but all the other stuff has the gross honeycomb imprints, so I won’t be getting those.

Have you noticed that I have kind of left Facebook for Twitter? I haven’t really made the decision official, but it’s just so much quicker/easier on twitter….which is how facebook USED to be. Lately it’s gotten all spam-ish and I ‘m just not digging it too much. Ok, off my rant and onto the good news:

EyesLipsFace.com aka E.L.F. is giving away a $25 gift card to the winner of the best beauty on a budget idea on Twitter. Are some of you rolling your eyes at $25?? Let me put this in a more fabulous perspective: Everything on EyesLipsFace.com is only $1. YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT. So essentially, if you win the contest, you get 25 items of your choice, just for an idea. Woot Woot!

I don’t know how often you can submit and idea, but I’m getting all of mine in a row. Contest ends June 7, so chop chop!

Take Care of Your Feet…

My son (Cross Country runner) kind of got on my case a couple of weeks ago because I was still using the same shoes to work out in that I had gotten maybe 3 years ago. He went on to lecture me about the whole foot support, range of motion, and a few other concepts that I sort of glazed over. I mean, here I am, only 5 months into taking my working out from level 1 to level 2.

Anyway, I decided to go ahead and start shopping for new shoes, and good grief are they expensive! After trying on a bunch of different styles and models, I finally decided on a pair of semi-snazzy Nikes from Lady Foot Locker, which to my surprise, was the most reasonably priced & broader range of styles. I wish I had this coupon at the time of my purchase, but here it is for you, so at least someone can get a discount!

My workouts have been much, MUCH more effective and comfortable, and I have many thanks to give my son!! Big props mi hijo! xoxo

Super Relax Chinese Foot Massage in Chatsworth

At $19 for a one hour massage experience, I thought it quite the research experiment to go to Super Relax, especially since my favorite spot The Jolly Foot was booked for the day. After my acupuncture appointment, I noticed a man smoking outside the Super Relax door as I walked in and asked for a session.

Of course, as my luck would have it, the cigarette smoking man followed me in and was my designated ‘walk in’ masseuse. I sniffed the air really quick and didn’t smell any cigarette smoke, so I thought maybe I was wrong in seeing him with my own eyes smoking a cigarette, and complied and sat down as he gave me a super rough massage.

The staff was nice, but the overall feel was kind of shady – not even as nice as the Jolly Foot. The massage was just ok, and as I walked out, I made a mental note to not visit them again. I don’t know exactly what it was, as nothing bad happened, but I just kind of got weird vibes from that place. I think this is the same chain that has their stations set up at the malls in Woodland Hills and Northridge, but I am not 100% sure.

Alterna Hair Caviar Shampoo & Conditioner

Yes, this stuff is uber luxe, and not only in price. It’s kind of perfumy, rinses through your hair like silk, and blow drys super nice.

The only downside is that by the time I got down to the end of the bottle, my hair was tired of the stuff, fatigued and a bit limp. I wonder if they make a clarifying shampoo? Due to the quick fatigue, I probably won’t buy it again unfortunately, because it was just a bit too pricey for the quick poop-out.

If you’d like to try Alterna out, or if you have a really good clarifying shampoo on deck (Fekkai Apple Cider clarifying is great IMO) you might want to give it a try – for the first 3 weeks at least, your hair really will feel fabulous. I found it cheapest at FragranceNet.com

Planning Ahead

I stopped by Whole Foods today after bellydance class to pick up some ingredients for Trina’s supergood fun salad that she made us last week, but I had to kind of wing it because I couldn’t remember what exactly was in it. I added spinach to the mix, some dried cranberries and now that I think about it, I’m missing the bell pepper that was in it. Oh yea, and I added some of whole pecans in lieu of walnuts (I think that is what was in Trina’s, but I’m not sure).

Another thing that I took heed from our Total Body 12 week kickstart program at Bodyworks Studio is to pre-package and stay organized, ahead of the game to fight the last minute ‘grab a bite to eat’ routine that never seems to work in my favor. I made 2 salads and pre-packed them for quick and easy transport to work, so I’m good until Saturday.

I also made some chicken and black beans and tomato dishes for dinner. I’m pretty glad that I can eat the same thing for a few days in a row without any problem with variety – it makes things SO much easier and way more convenient.

“If you want different results, you have to try different things.” I’m in a good space tonight.

Restoration Hardware Baby?

It’s one of 2 things. 1. My baby is now 17 years old, and 2. WHEN my son was a baby, there was no way I could afford Restoration Hardware. Ok so now that THAT is out of the way, I just got an email blast from Restoration Hardware Baby. I know it’s kind of off topic, but most of my readers are mommas, so this post is for ya’ll.

You can browse around, get some decor ideas, register for your baby shower, send a gift,  and/or sign up for the newsletter to see the new and upcoming products/events/sales. Restoration Hardware is giving away a $100 credit towards any $400 purchase to those who register their events on the gift registry…sounds like  a great deal to me!

Enjoy!

Holy Cow Did I Find It??

Last weekend, I was in the mood for a polish change. I was at the family’s house, so my only options were part of Mama’s collection, which can be kind of dull in color choice, but pretty good in quality. Out of the two colors, I chose the taupe-ish one by Lancome.

Since it was a formula I had never tried before, and the title read “Vernis Magnetic” I kind of snickered at the whole arrogance of the title. In my recent quest to find the perfect nail polish for natural nails, “Magnetic” is not a word that I would associate with anything on natural nails. I went ahead with the mini-manicure (self done btw) and applied 2 coats, which went on rather smoothly with no bubbles and a nice even shade. I kind of was bummed out with the non-exciting factor of the color though, so I figured I would add another coat to at least make it as saturated as possilbe. This was on Saturday. HELLO!!! Today is TUESDAY NIGHT and I have NO chips, No retouch, No peeling, they look like I JUST did them. Since the polish is at my mom’s house, I was assuming that by Monday night, I would be heckling Lancome with their audacity to put “Magnetic” on their formula title, but dude…it IS magnetic!!!

Needless to say, I am putting on another clear coat of top coat today for good measure, and as soon as my VNUS vein removal one legged recovery holster is removed, and I can go to the mall again, I am going to go and buy a couple of more fun shades of this VERY formula. OH HAPPY DAY! Another Holy Grail Inductee for 2009!
