Patricia Wexler’s Resurfacing Microdermabrasion FTW!
Definitely FTW (For the Win!) is Patricia Wexler’s at home microbrasion / resurfacing system. It came with the sampler pack I purchased for $65 (minus my $15 off coupon from Bath & Body Works) so essentially it was a great deal, AND a great product. My skin feels like a baby’s bottom AND it didn’t cost me any facial money!

Farrah’s Sad Song
Are you going to watch Farrah’s home video documentary on tv (nbc) tonight? I’m not. And here is why: I’ve gone through this terminal illness as an obsever way too many times in my short life to want to do it again, even at a distance. My best friend passed away due to AIDS, my uncle very recently lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, and now my good friend from work has found out that her level 4 skin cancer has spread to her lymph nodes & breast and is undergoing chemotherapy as I type.
It is a very, very real and painful experience, I mean, I couldn’t even imagine how it is to actually be the one to GO through it, but the knowledge that you are limited in the ability to help a loved one cope and be comfortable is a frustrating on.
I know that is selfish in it’s statement, and perhaps I am not really expressing my words as I type them, but I am really not trying to be selfish here. All I am trying to express is that when you watch someone fight the fight of their life, and progressively lose, it puts an entirely new perspective on many things that are typically taken for granted, dwelled on, and perhaps ignored.
With that said, I again state that I will not be watching this documentary, however, I really think that if you haven’t gone through the complete raw and unedited version of being a companion to a loved one with a terminal illness, YOU totally SHOULD watch this. It will probably re-focus your entire method of living, redefine what is important, priorities your existence and reach out to be with those who are loved and who matter in your life. I applaud Farrah in her choice to share her experience, I know…I KNOW it was probably the most exhausting moment in her entire life, and for that, I do pray for you.
Healing thoughts, positive energy and well wishes,
sylvia

Diana Vilchis : First Visit
If you have never had an at-home massage, trust me, you are totally missing out!!! Usually much cheaper, WAY more relaxing, and totally more convenient, I really don’t know why anyone would ever go to a spa for a regular massage after having one at home!
It has occurred to me though that some people may not know how to actually go about getting one, so I thought I would copy some of the info that Diana has provided on her Facebook page detailing her home visit and what you can expect of the appointment:
“Positive touch encourages growth, development and feeling of well-being. Vilchis Touch provides Professional and Therapeutic Touch. Before each Massage Session, it is required that you take a hot shower in order to enhance the benefits of the treatment, relax tensed areas, and create a clean surface for your pores.”

Hair Towels are the Real Deal!

I have seen these in stores all over the place for years, and always thought that it was just one of those things that you really didn’t need, because in my head, I would always say ‘oh, well I have a bunch of towels at home’ BUT let me share 1 thing with you: I spent the $25 on a whim on a set of 2 hair towels, and I am constantly going back for more. Seriously, these little miracle blankets wrap around your head perfectly, and take all the moisture out of your hair for a way faster blow dry!!
Again, one of the best mini-buys I have done, and the results prove to be fabulous over and over! Want specific deets?

Tiger Balm for Sore Muscles
Tiger Balm has been around for as long as I can remember, but let me remind everyone, including myself how awesome it is!! It’s fantastic to use after a workout – AFTER showering, and right before bed. I got the best sleep and woke up without any muscle ailments that would inhibit me from moving comfortably the next morning.
Diana Vilchis, who is the BEST massage therapist who will come to your home and give you the bomb massage, uses Tiger Balm on my muscles after she is done with each section, which is just absolute heaven!
Mind you, I WAS sore, but not to the point of being unable to move, like I have been in the past. That’s my feel-good tip of the day for all of us fitness mamas! Tiger Balm comes in ointment form, rub form, extra strength, sports rub formula, pain relief formula
for more info on how to use Tiger Balm:

At Home Spa Cuisine
I always get a bunch of moans and groans regarding the high prices of eating healthy. What’s funny is that no one ever complains of the price of eating unhealthy. Go figure.
Anyway, with today’s prices being much more higher at the grocery store, shopping at more organic and non-superstore shops is not only good for your body and mind, but not so heavy in your wallet either. The produce at Whole Foods or Trader Joes just plain taste better too! I picked up a whole pineapple and a box of blackberries for under $7, chopped them up and added them to salads, yogurt toppings and my cereals and so far that mix has lasted 3 days. Now That’s a Deal, baby!

Today’s morning snack granted me not only lots of yummies, but the pineapple nourished my body with vitamin B1, vitamin C and natural enzymes that will help break down proteins in the the body. Blackberries delivered natural fiber, vitamins C and K, folic acid (a B vitamin) and lots of essential antioxidants. The natural seeds that are within the Blackberry fruit contain Omega 3 good and natural fats, small amounts of protein, and natural sources of fiber.
Here’s something you might not have known: Pineapples are indigenous to southern Brazil and Paraguay and spread up through the north americas by native peoples. In 1493 Columbus found the fruit on the island of Guadaloupe and carried it back to Spain and it was spread around the world on sailing ships that carried it for protection against scurvy. The Spanish introduced it into the Philippines and may have taken it to Hawaii and Guam early in the 16th Century.

I just started using Pedi-Relax a 3 part foot care kit. So far, I absolutely love it! I am going to be posting a more thorough review once I’ve given it a week’s worth of usage, so be sure to stay tuned.
Gotta keep your feet looking good, regardless of what else is going on! Even if summer is a long way off, now is the time to keep your toes extra moisturized & recovered if they are dry due to cold or just lack of attention during the winter months. Plus you don’t want to get caught trying on shoes at all the after X-mas shoe sale with crusty looking feet!!!!
Read MoreBurning Nail
No, it’s not the name of a 90′s alt band, Burning Nail is a real honest occurance, happening to me right at this very moment. Let’s rewind: I have had natural nails for 2 months now, give or take. I’m still getting used to the routine upkeep of the natural nail, and so today I decided to buy one of those buffer things from Sally’s…the ones that are a buck or so. I come home and get to buffing, and all of a sudden, my nails start burning. I had buffed them down to the quick. OUCH!
Is that possible? I mean, I keep my nails short so I can be quick with my new Blackberry Storm, and I know better than to cut my nails too short , but apparently you can also buff them too short too. Who knew?? Not me. So now, I am suffering from an acute case of Burning Nail. Looking back, I kind of understand how I did it; I suppose I was buffing like I would with my acrylic nails.
I sure hope that I can get the hang of this natural nail care thing because it’s getting to be quite a task. I’m missing my fakies more day by day. How come it’s such a pain to keep your own nails?? And why do I have to re-polish every other day or so??

Ok – this month my personal space plan is going to be to create a peaceful and beautiful powder room
upstairs. We’ve been here over 4 years and it is still a hot mess. I’ve gotten the downstairs bath to have a nice zen-type vibe and include some basic essentials to give me the spa-lifestyle here at home:
* Clean rolled white handtowels
* Essential Oils to drop in the shower & steam
* Foot pumice stone in the shower
* All white high threadcount towels
