Well, I was super jealous of the nursing staff at the Valley View Cosmetic Center sporting cute baby tee’s with rhinestone studded BOTOX spelled out across the front, but after reading this article, I guess all that and the free pens, notepads and maybe even the generous free samples of certain meds are going the way of the buffalo. Poof and you’re gone.

It’s funny how each year, society’s trends reflect the economy…remember when we were wondering if the 24K Gold facial was effective? Now it’s all about honey or mayonaise, and which one is on sale at the local grocery store. LOL!!!

I just started using Pedi-Relax a 3 part foot care kit. So far, I absolutely love it! I am going to be posting a more thorough review once I’ve given it a week’s worth of usage, so be sure to stay tuned.

Gotta keep your feet looking good, regardless of what else is going on! Even if summer is a long way off, now is the time to keep your toes extra moisturized & recovered if they are dry due to cold or just lack of attention during the winter months. I used to swear by AVEDA’s tourmaline charged mask, until I tried DHC’s. Iam now an avid fan of this quick mask because it makes my face feel fabulous in under 10 minutes,  it’s totally easy to remove and I can do a  quick mask in the morning before I do

my makeup on mondays - a fresh start so to speak. While most DCH stuff is pretty reasonably priced, this mask will run you around $37 USD while Aveda’s is in a similar price range. I’ve got to say though, DHC makes my skin feel way smoother. Word up.

If I couldn’t find something at Target (which totally rocks) I would opt to go to Bed, Bath and Beyond because they were always a couple bucks cheaper than Linens N Things, plus they honored any competitor’s coupons, PLUS sent out coupons of their own. Granted the whole 20% off any SINGLE item was kind of a drag, but whatever, at least they offered some sort of incentive to buy. Linens N Things? Not such luck. As a matter of fact, they are going out of business in California and most southern California stores are going out of business and promoting an “everything must go’ sale, but check this out: upon scrambling in the parking lot and looking for a place to park, I finally got in…to a whole 10% off sale.

OMG. I was beyond pissed. 10% off? Plus there was a big ol sign at the register saying ‘ALL SALES FINAL” and “NO COUPONS”. Great. So not only are you paying over the regular price at Target, but you are sifting through mismatches and leftovers. No wonder they are going out of business - 10%? Blah.

I ended up going to JC Penny and getting some throw pillows for 40% off a regular price marked lower than the Linens’ N Things sale price PLUS I got an additional 15% off with the in-store coupon. I feel almost insulted that Linens had the nerve to waste my time. I mean, it’s not like their stuff is any higher quality than any other home store…you know? Get with it. And give me a break while you’re at it.

As a house warming gift, I got an Archipeligo home diffuser which has actually lasted me over a year. I was so pleased with the look, the reed diffuser mellow scent for my living room and the long lasting size…but whoa I was not ready for the $60 price tag. Good gift, but definitely not something I would buy for myself LOL! After cruising the net for some home fragrance alternatives for the holiday season, I ran across this page and found this recipe:

Sugar and Spice Blend

The aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and orange blend to make a sweet, spicy aroma perfect for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The below directions are for creating a diffuser blend, but it is also lovely to use with potpourri. It is also a wonderful blend to use for the Scented Greeting Card & Tissue Paper recipe.

Ingredients:

• 10 drops Orange
• 5 drops Ginger
• 8 drops Cinnamon
• 1 drop Nutmeg

I really try to stay out of any Bath & Body Works that I pass by, because I always end up with something that I absolutely do not need and end up wanting to break whatever diet I am on at the time. Today, I just couldn’t stay out - I walked by and the cozy scent of pumpkin spice lurred me in like a cat passing a warm dish of milk. I fell hook, Line and Sinker…and ended up getting a mini jar of the Pumpkin Pie Paradise body scrub, and a few of the fall home fragrance items (read: sugary pumpkin clovy stuff). I tried the scrub this evening and as hard as it was to not eat the stuff, it actually made my skin feel refreshed and silky after my shower, but what I did was rub the scrub all over before I got into the shower and then lathered/rinsed. And then got mad because I’m on a diet and good LORD that stuff smells divine!

Does anyone have any suggestions to help eliminate breaking out on my face after waxing? I’ve tried almost every single facial hair removal and have the best luck / less breakout with waxing (minus lazer hair removal) and am wondering if perhaps a topical something or other might help?

OMG wow. I promise you, you simply cannot make stuff like this up. Looking forward to trying it out this morning…and GuhRoss! Dude, it totally looks like phlegm. Its a phlegmy snotty green that looks like the description of what your kid’s snot should NOT look like when taking them to pre-school ( all you pre-school moms totally know what I’m talking about) … that yellowish-green gross stuff. And so I decide, and as we all know, sylviaG is as honest as one can be, to blog about it. So here we go. I google the good doctor’s product, and low and behold, Dr Gross MD Skincare All-in-One Facial Cleanser with Toner pops up. I promise you I am not making this up - MD Skincare products are actually distributed/created by a Doctor Gross.

So there you have it. No need to dish out any more subjective thoughts, besides a real quick review: It’s gross, it’s ugly, I guess it works, but I’ve never compared it to snot being slathered all over my face either. Ugh. Times 2.

I just tried DDF Skincare aka Doctor’s Dermalogic Formula’s Glycolic Exfoliation Wash, and I must say, I am intrigued. It didn’t sting, it left my skin super smooth AND it didn’t have any granular stuff or stingy stuff going on that I have found in alot of the glycolic/exfoliation cleansers. AND I totally feel a difference - my skin feels smooth, and believe me, I am a hard sell. Plus I just checked their website DDFSkincare.com and noticed that they have kits, which I am totally a fan of to get a true trial run of the product - happy day!

plus I’m not even gonna lie…the website says they have a free gift and samples with every order LOL! I’m thinking of trying the 2 step to radiant skin kit. The pricing is mid-range - a bit more than the drugstore stuff, but not even close to the stuff you get at Nordstrom’s. Will definitely follow up with results.

Oh! I musn’t forget the importance that the product is not tested on animals

I love my feet.  One time when I was in one of my undergrad lectures at CSUN, there was an older woman who was sitting in front of me and to the side, and would always wear sandals. She had the most horrific heels I have ever to this day seen in my life. They were beyond cracked and just plain gross. Ever since that day, I have been uber-religious about slathering my feet every night before I go to bed, even resorting to vaseline or aquaphor on days when my pocketbook wouldn’t justify any sort of foot balm…and out of ALL the ones I have given a test run, three are the winning contenders:

Origins ‘Youthtopia™’ Skin Firming Lotion with Rhodiola kinda sucks. I’m somewhat new to Origins, and just purchased this product plus some others - here is the rundown and how it’s all kind of panning out:

Origins Youthtopia - don’t like it, it seems to leave a greasy film that attracts dust & dirt to the face. Am I doing something wrong??

Origins Modern Friction - nature’s gentle dermabrasion, except that it’s not really gentle - this stuff will remove every ounce of residue or oil that is anywhere near your face. I LOVE it! I am starting to use it as a body scrub too around once per week. It is a teeny tiny bit stingy too, just an fyi.

Origins Ginger Souflee - omg I love it!

Origins - A Perfect World : still undergoing review

Origins - Dr. Weil Mega Mushroom eye treatment - like it, I think it’s working!

Origins - Dr. Weil Mega Mushroom face serum - liked it, but didn’t see any major difference after a 3 week run.

sofar, Origins is getting a pretty good scorecard with a couple of products not really working for me, but I would consider purchasing more products especially in the cleansing department. I will update after I finish the remaining products.
