Burning Nail

No, it’s not the name of a 90′s alt band, Burning Nail is a real honest occurance, happening to me right at this very moment. Let’s rewind: I have had natural nails for 2 months now, give or take. I’m still getting used to the routine upkeep of the natural nail, and so today I decided to buy one of those buffer things from Sally’s…the ones that are a buck or so. I come home and get to buffing, and all of a sudden, my nails start burning. I had buffed them down to the quick. OUCH!

Is that possible? I mean, I keep my nails short so I can be quick with my new Blackberry Storm, and I know better than to cut my nails too short , but apparently you can also buff them too short too.   Who knew?? Not me.  So now, I am suffering from an acute case of Burning Nail. Looking back, I kind of understand how I did it; I suppose I was buffing like I would with my acrylic nails.

I sure hope that I can get the hang of this natural nail care thing because it’s getting to be quite a task. I’m missing my fakies more day by day. How come it’s such a pain to keep your own nails?? And why do I have to re-polish every other day or so??

Stocking Stuffers 4 my Teenage Son

Every year, I have stuffed my son’s Christmas stocking with hygienic supplies that he usually would not buy for himself, or are a bit more on the luxury scale to make it a bit more special. Mainly, these are items that aren’t too pricey, but he would never buy for himself, or don’t make the day to day budget. Here is an example of what he can expect from Mama-clause thise year (and hopefully he doesn’t read this blog, but if he does, I am sure he won’t be disappointed LOL!)

Glam on the Rocks

Ok ladies & gents…it’s Labor Day weekend, and that means lots of food & drink! At my age, the whole drinking for empty calories and a hangover aren’t really what’s up…BUT I can indeed justify all consumation by at least increasing my anti-oxidant and flavinoid intake! Here’s some great recipes to try out – and I am STILL working on getting Staci’s friend’s amazing blueberry sangria recipe – TDF!

Absolut has a new drink out: Absolut LA: Inspired by Hollywood’s glitz and glam, the latest release in Absolut’s cities series features blueberry, açai berry, acerola cherry, and pomegranate flavors. Be sure to try this out this weekend:

ABSOLUT L.A. Dream
Created by Chaya Brasserie
Serve in a highball glass over ice

Ingredients
2 oz. ABSOLUT L.A.
½ oz. Blue Curacao liqueur
Dash of sweet and sour

1. Combine ingredients.

2. Top with 7Up.

3. Garnish with fresh blueberries and lime.

One audition and you’ll be calling it back for more.

Oh Happy Day – Bare Escentuals

Ok so after a couple of failed attempts at being schooled on how to apply the BE stuff at Sephora, I decided to make my way into the local Bare Escentual’s actual boutique (this is the 3rd time in a row that I’ve attempted to talk with a consultant – there usually is a waiting list).

Anyway, shout out to Nikki who took her time to show me and my mom how to put on a fabulous face, even under the pressure of being short a couple of girls. Just for the record – I ended up buying another batch of Rare Minerals because I bought my last one from amazon.com and didn’t really know how to put it on, and just washed my face with the Bare Escentuals cleanser, and I promise you all, my skin feels like SILK!! Raise the Roof!

I’ve got to call mama tomorrow morning and see how her cleanser is working out. It took off my makeup, but I didn’t have any mascara on so I don’t know how good its going to be on getting my chola-gunk mascara off, but will totally let you know. PEACE and happy monday tomorrow!
