True Blue Spa : Body Scrub
I’m In the Mood for Scrub is the body scrub product du jour at Bath & Body Works (BBW).

Since I had a coupon, I used it towards the purchase of this – and you will need it because this little bad boy costs $20. FOR REAL. $20 for bath body scrub is way too much money in my opinion, especially since you can find lots of scrubs at Marshall’s or TJMaxx for under $10 bucks. This stuff isn’t really anything special, it works just like any other body scrub, lathers up rather nice, rinses clean, and will leave you skin feeling nice. The smell is rather nuetral so it can work for either gender without issue. It kind of has a clean soap-ish smell. But again, no big deal, and totally not worth $20. I would buy it again if it was closer to $7.50, but not over $10 for sure.
Tasty Tidbits:
On your purchase reciept from BBW, there is a toll free number at the bottom that you can call and answer a few questions (I swear, it’s less than a 5 minute process) and then the automated system gives you a code that you write down and get $10 off a $30 purchase at your next visit to BBW. Just an FYI
Did you know that Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works are sister companies? Interesting, don’t you think??

Aveda Vs. Suave Body Cleansers
AKA shower gel, Aveda’s “Energizing” shower gel infuses Aloe vera, Eucalyptus, Grapefruit seed, Peppermint, Vitamin E, Witch Hazel, Ylang ylang – a much thicker and more emolient rich gel that won’t dry your skin! I actually had to stop using shower gels because I was SO tempted by the $1.99 lovely smelling Suave gel but kept having dry itchy skin, but not with Aveda! After today’s beach grind boot camp workout (I’ll blog about that later) I took a super fab shower with my Aveda gel and only needed a light layer of lotion after my shower and it’s 8 + hours later and my skin is still nice and moisturized! Makes you go Hhhhhhhmmmmmm….

At a US $15 pricepoint, I must do some more investigation on the pros and cons of an effective body cleanser vs. a $2 semi-effective uber-drying gel cleanser. Both smell divine – however, only Aveda’s is botanical, the Suave stuff is highly fragranced. I’m almost scared to read the ingredients of the Suave stuff…but here I go, about to google it:

Origins – The Good & Better
Ok so I’ve finally zero’d in on what I do absolutely love from the Origins line. Staci’s bday recently passed and since I was feeling under the weather, I was able to send an e-card directly to her email so she could get some goodies via the net without having to deal with a card or finding the nearest retailer, which was super easy & fabulous…and who doesn’t like easy & fabulous?
Anyway, here’s my Origins Love List:

McDonald’s Ice Coffee – Exposed!

If you still haven’t learned from the American obesity crisis, maybe some chillaxed groove music and a swanky ad campaign will change your mind.
McDonald’s has embarked on a successful campaign for it’s $2 Iced Coffee drink, sounding especially tempting during an economic time when a $5.00 Starbuck’s iced drink seems a trivial purchase. At 90 calories (medium) and absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever, you may be saving 3 bucks, but filling up on McDonald’s fluff which no doubt, will cost your body much, much more, as opposed to drinking a Starbucks iced Skinny Latte which will cover 25% your calcium daily recommended allowance and 7-9 grams of protein, which your body will work off by itself within your daily activities.
McDonald’s drink has 1 gram of protein, approx 6% of the daily recommended allowance of calcium and basically means that you will have to do around 500 extra crunches to work it off. Ingredients in the McDonald’s Iced Coffee drink include: sodium phosphate, sodium polyphosphate, DATEM, sodium stearoyl lactylate, tetra sodium pyrophosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium citrate, carrageenan. * from McDonald’s official nutritional guide information online.
And that’s not even counting the chance that you don’t order anything else while in the drive through lane!

Thread Count Totally Matters!
I was a late bloomer to the whole concept of high thread count sheets/linens, but seriously, the thread count number completely changed my life. Honest! I’ve noticed that the temperature of my body regulation is much more comfortable, those weird creases that I used to get in the morning are gone, and every time the sheets are laundered, they actually get softer. Go Figure.
I think I must have been in my last year in college when one of my best buddies B’s mom Sharon schooled me on the whole thread count phenom, and I just recently introduced a younger friend of mine to the major importance of investing in at least 2 good sets.
Here’s the best part though – you can find super great deals on 600+ count sheets online, as well as offline at places like Marshall’s, TJMaxx or maybe Ross if you are lucky. Tuesday Morning also has some really good deals on luxury linens for a fraction of a price – I recently came up on a pair of Kate Spade European sham covers for less than 2 bucks each! I also buy my linens from Overstock.com and sometimes SmartBargains.com for under $40 per set.
