The season of the magical weddings are upon us, people! Get your wardrobe ready for spring-summer weddings, and remember that the best accessory is healthy and glowing skin!
Ok with that being said, I’ve been in a gazillion weddings, and one of the absolute best ‘thank you’ gifts that I have been honored to receive (besides my sister-in-law Stacy’s very personal and gorgeous gift, thank you by the way again) was a posh spa & beauty pack.
Now, I’m not talking about one of those cheapie celophane wrapped no-brand lots-o-fluff chemical ridden spa gift baskets…I’m talking about a hat box filled with L’Occitane organic and luxurious ingredient rich emolients. Score!!! I almost don’t mind the drama that came along with the wedding!
I have completely fallen in Love with L’Occitane, however, it has become one of those luxury items that I will probably never buy for myself, but it’s my first go-to gift for sure!

“Around this time last summer, traces of my highlights were still visible, even though my hair was reasonably damaged. However, thanks to my on-again, off-again hair regimen, my strands are noticeably healthier, minus the color. So when I heard about Clairol Professional Advanced Gray Solution with its patented SynAIRgy technology, I almost managed to restrain myself from contemplating a new color for Summer…almost being the keyword! It’s specifically for women of color!”

Philosophy’s Unconditional Love Says it All
Ahhh, a Mother’s Day Gift with a message. What better way to send a mushy message, without sending a mushy message? Philosophy’s Unconditional Love will actually do just that for those of us who have challenges in communicating our feelings verbally, and with a gift like this, you can probably save money on getting a cheesy card where you have to write something considerate and might make you nervous, I know I get nervous when I have to write something mushy. Shown here: Philosophy’s Unconditional Love Fragrance Spray, Philosophy’s Perfumed shower gel, shampoo and bubble bath all in one, and Philosophy’s Unconditional Love Firming Body Emulsion.

And as always, I get all my beauty stuff from Beauty.com because they have free shipping, free samples, the best price and you can pay with paypal. Yea!

Beauty Boot Camp 2009
Early springtime, and that means its Beauty Boot Camp phase 1 season for me! Here is my list of accomplishments thusfar. Remember, phase 1 is moreso preparation than result driven!
- Started using sensodyn to prepare my sensitive teeth for whitening. The full whitening will take place in phase 3. Before the whitening, and after the month of sensodyne is a trip to the dentist to get a full on cleaning.

- Got my hair colored and lightened. It won’t really be the color I want until june-ish, but by then the weather will be warm enough to offset the lighter color with some sun.
- Got some Patricia Wexler at home microdermabrasion, again DIY style.
- Got some Surgicream hair removal for my ‘stache, again DIY style.
- Started using my Jergin’s gradual tanning daily moisturizer. I don’t want to suddenly be ‘orange’ with a full on spray tan, so first phase consists of a gradual color application, like the Jergins, which allows minimal streaking and just a touch of color to kind of transition into full spray tan mode. Plus it’s cheap, and I can DIY it.
- Increased my cardio per week. Time to work on burning off the cold weather comfort food weight gain. And I’ve gained around 15 lbs since last summer. Can you believe it? Believe it.
- Make last minute appointments to get my spider veins zapped with Sclerotherapy. Since these are small veins, they will heal in about 4 weeks, so good maintenance and will not be bruised by warm weather months.
- Started swapping out my winter cozy scents around the house with fresh and revitalizing springtime scents, more in the fruity zones rather than the spice realms.
and there you go, phase 1 almost is coming to wraps, and preparing for phase 2.

Hope in a Jar Shatters My Dreams!
So, based on my OWN review of Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar, I decided to invest the dough to get another bottle for my spring beauty bootcamp project that I started this week…but only after 7 days of using the stuff, I have really flaky and irritated skin. What a true and total BUMMER. This only goes to show you that not only does skin have a more moody essence than our minds do, but that it also changes on you, when you least expect it to. I’m still using it on my neck and decollatage, but notsomuch on my actual face anymore. Total bummer, again. Now I have to fork over the dough for some Patricia Wexler. Ugh.

Qtica Nail Treatment

Remember when I had that Burning Nail issue from buffing my natural nails too short? I ended up at Beauty Gallery in Chatsworth looking for something, anything to help heal the mess that I made, because by day two, I was in super intoleratble pain. I picked up the Qtica growth stimulator and the Qtica cuticle cream and shelled out the $35 bucks for both (YES, the price of a full set of acrylic nails…I’m JUST saying) and hoped for the best.
It’s been about 3 weeks maybe, and I can honestly say that FINALLY my nails seem to be almost 100% better, and even strong, and dare I say, healthy? Really? I bet you have noticed I’ve stopped complaining about fake nails being better than real nails…because maybe they aren’t so bad afterall. Healthy nails, that is.Thanks Qtica - I will try not to complain when I see your prices next time.
Alternative uses for the Cuticle Cream BTW:
>Used to soothe irritation under the nose during a cold or flu
>Immediate relief from light curling iron burns (reported by hair stylists)
>Relief of minor exema
>Applied around cheekbones and laugh lines by skiers in extreme winter conditions to defend skin against harsh elements
“45% of Qtica Intense Cuticle Repair Buyers are Women who are buying for boyfriends or husbands who work with their hands in the fields of construction, manufacturing, automotive and professional athletes. As one customer put it “….if those rough cuticles and jagged hang nails scratch my face, or snag my blouse one more time I’ll…” – from ArtOfBeauty.com
