Janna K Day Spa & Salon – Oxnard

Janna K
600 S Victoria Ave, Oxnard, CA
(805) 984-0100

Ironically, Janna K is located in a strip mall, and get this – the hair salon and the ‘day spa’ building are not conjoined. Meaning that if you walk in one door to the front desk and check in, you are directed to either a super crowded tiny hair booth, or for thier body treatments, you actually have to walk out the door, go two doors over and wait for your technician to meet you in the lobby which is completely empty with a fountain and a garden bench for you to sit and wait. Unfortunately, I got there before my therapist so I kind of waited uncomfortably not really knowing what to do, but just sit….and wait.

She finally arrived and asked what I was getting done, which was a thermo-body wrap (which says you can lose inches) and a 30 minute swedish massage. I go into the treatment room, undress, and get measured with a seamstress tape around my stomach, hips, thighs and calves. Then she slathers my thighs and belly with some cream stuff and then wraps me up in costco saran wrap like a mummy. I swear. O.M.G.

The Thermo Body Wrap:
She then has me lay down and ‘relax" (ummmm, ok?) and leaves the room for almost 30 minutes while I sweat like a pig. When she finally comes back, she unwraps me, wipes down the cream and measures me again. 1/8 of an inch here, 1/10 of an inch there, yada yada for a total inch loss of 7 inches. I feel like I lost the most inches in my wallet.

The 30 Minute Swedish Massage:
All is going well, and I am finally thinking I can really relax when in comes this super ridiculously loud woman who is getting a massage in the room next to mine, and being that the rooms are really cubicals rather than rooms, I am forced to listen to her complain about alimony, irregular periods, and her asshole son in law.

My ultimate recommendation? Don’t Do Janna K!

  1. Awww…. this is horrible! I’m truely sorry you had such a bad visit. This is the only place that I have ever enjoyed my massages. My hub is Navy so we move alot, hence visitting lots of spas. I’d give anything to be back there. Janna K’s is all I’d ever go to!

  2. Yea, it was a bummer, especially since most people I know swear by JannaK but the two times I have been there were both really bad, so either I have bad luck or it is just a bad coincidence :(

I am destined to find fabulous massage experiences in Oxnard so stay tuned!!

  3. Janna K, No Thank You, the only memmories I have are being scalped during an eyebrow waxing and viloated by extractions! When I informed the process was to much, I was informed “This is how we do it”.

Now that I reside elewhere, I have learned Vitamin C facials are extremely relaxing and your skin feels great afterwards (refreshed, detox’d and bright). Highly suggest this procedure.

Janna K is nearby my home so I have made several attempts to be a regular – after a bad haircut, and multiple errors in scheduling (at least 5 where the time was off or the estecian was not available while I waited, I was asked to return hours later.

Last week topped it off! I went in for a simple lash tint, a procedure i’ve had done at least 20 times. The appt was on time for once, the estecian was new to me, but very nice. As she was putting the tint on there was a very strong odor, I came to find out the owner had instructed her to use REGUALR HAIR COLOR. Well this not only did I leave with the same blond lashes I walked in (after they took my money) but for 3 days I could not leave my house because my eyes were swollen shut and badly burned. This solution literally burned all skin around my ears. One week later, my skin is still peeling and i’ve lost several eyelashes.

I’ve been told by other employees at this salon that the owner is cheap and very tough to work for. I have left her 3 messages in the past week that have gone unreturned, so aside from being cheap she is also not a very good business person.

The first message I left was very polite just asking what I can use to help lessen the irritation – no reply. The second message was to ask them to please discontinue using that product, no reply. The third message was to make sure she got my first two. I was told she had been given the message.

It’s too bad this place is run so poorly, the employees are very nice and the location is perfect, it’s really a shame and a waste of a good facility and nice people with one exception.

  5. wow JannaK in oxnard seems to be the hot topic among my friends and collegues in that most people have had a pretty bad experience there, although most of the bad experience has been in the spa arena, not the actual hair styling salon. I actually went to get a haircut there and was not impressed with the stylist’s cutting ability so I never went back.

  6. When I was in High School..(1996) Janna K was the spot, supposedly. Everyone wanted to go “spa-ing” at JannaK…but I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews since I’ve graduated. I’ve never been, but I dont plan on it either…I’ll stick to Gauthier Total Spa out here.

  7. I have been going to JK for at least 10 years-It is all good. Ya’ll must be crazy. I have sent many friends, etc-all to great reviews-Sorry but it must suck to be you.

I have always had a great Experience at Janna K’s Day Spa and Salon. Thier Hair Stylists are all great with the most updated classes in cutting, coloring and styling. I have had all the Spa treatments and have had a wonderful experience with them all. I have been going to Janna K’s for 10 years with absolutly perfect results and a very relaxing time. The spa is connected to the Salon and no, you do not have to go outside through another door. Have any of these bad reviews ever been to Janna K’s?????
