Giorgio by Giorgio Beverly Hills
Giorgio Beverly Hills was my very first “grown up” perfume. My mom hates anything scented, so I never really was exposed to the pleasure of fragrance until my freshman year in high school where EVERYONE had “it” perfumes and cologne. The year was 1985 and Giorgio Beverly Hills was only 3 years old…and I simply HAD to have it! I did finally get it for Christmas that year, and to this day get teased on the enormous amount of perfume I would put on every morning before going to school. This past weekend, my friend and I went on a mini-shopping trip and stopped by the fragrance counter to try some of the latest and greatest. I tried on Angel – Alien by Thiery Mugler
- which was super sexy and might get purchased later on this season…and then I saw it. My first love…

I was instantly transported back to the era of spandex, aqua net hair spray, ultima II makeup and scrunched down oversized socks…1985. I remember the fusion of my Giorgio Beverly Hills mixed with my boyfriends’ (at the time) Ralph Lauren Polo – the one in the green bottle. I remembered the set of friends I hung out with – and perhaps not thier last names, but I distinctly remember one wearing YSL’s Paris, one Christian Dior’s Poison, and one wearing Amariage (which to this day I think was her mother’s because the scent is just too sophisticated for a high school girl of 14).
It’s funny how a single scent can bring back a thousand experiences…Giorgio, Oh Giorgio, you will forever be my very first love.
