To Pedicure or Not?

I have a few friend, and parents, who are constantly telling me to not get ‘spa pedicures’ at the nail shops because of all the germs/lack of hygeine used in the shops. Apparantly, even if the nail technicians spray the tub/thing with disenfectant and rinse out the area, you are still prone to bacterial infections.

so I ask you, do you Pedi-Spa? What types of things do you do to keep yourself non-prone to infection? Or do you just give it up to chance…like I do?

Spa Finder, Inc

  1. I have had the same concerns in the past however are we all to give up wearing open toed shoes as well?

The first type of personal protection I take, do not shave on the day of your pedicure this way you avoid any nicks or cuts from getting infected. Secondly I make sure they use new files and buffers as well, most places use a new kit and give the customer the supplies post pedicure (of course this treatment is a little more expensive). Always look to make sure they are taking the equipment out of the sterilizer and never let them use a blade to shave any rough areas that is what the hard file is for. Third bring your own polish as well.

After the technician realizes your are a germ freak she will adhere to the universal code and finally you will be able to enjoy a clean Spa Pedicure.
