I’m a sucker for the whole ‘kit’ thing, and I’ve always been an even bigger sucker for ‘gifts with purchase’ so when I got this mailer from Sephora.com in the box, I was instantly intrigued. Here is the rundown:
Flawless Face Kit ($159 Value)$65.00
What it is:
A set of products designed for a professional-looking makeup application.
What it does:
Laura Mercier Flawless Face Kit combines all of the essential formulas and tools needed to create a flawless face into one convenient travel-size zippered case. Prime, moisturize, and cover up your way to complexion perfection. It’s dermatologist-tested.
What else you need to know:
Available exclusively at Sephora, each bag contains a 1.0 oz Foundation Primer (Step 1), a 1.0 oz Tinted Moisturizer (Step 2), a 0.21 oz Undercover Pot plus Translucent Loose Setting Powder (Step 3 and 4), a Secret Camouflage Brush, a Camouflage Powder Brush, a Velour Puff, and an egg-shaped Sponge. Plus if you enter code “BACKSTAGE” at checkout, you will get a free Brown shimmerstick.
On the downside, it’s only good online at Sephora.com and comes in only 2 colors: “Nude” and “Sand” which is kind of a bummer if you are like me and have no idea if either one of those will match. But if you’re a repeat Mercier user, you probably know which you are and can get some good freebies!
Yay! I adore Fall, and MAC is coming out with a new line called Cult of Cherry. I know, the said photography DOES look rather emo and dated, I mean really…who wears cherry print anymore? BUT from a makeup view, I am ALL about chocolate cherry, so I’ve decided to call it just that: Chocolate Cherry for Fall 2008. I saw also that a few other lines are coming out with a Decadence line which has alot of truffle and chocolate colored palattes, but since I adore MAC and it’s heavy pigmented color, AND love chocolaty stuff, praise be the Chocolate Cherry look. Some old standard colors are going to be celebrated with this look, Russian Red, Diva, Cork, etc…but the fresh and exciting addition to this look is going to be the shiny green accent color that seems totally appropriate as the green stem of a chocolate colored cherry. Fabulous!
Ok so all of you know that I am a local at the Topanga Mall, and I can’t WAIT until the Neiman-Marcus store opens September 5 (that’s right around the corner!!). I’ve seen a new Jimmy Choo store in the works, and a new Tiffany’s store located right on the corner outside of the new Neiman’s which has a cute corner-like appeal and is right across the way from Salvator Ferragamo. It’s kind of weird that if you go down that corrider of the mall you will end up at Sears but whatev. Who goes down that corridor anyway?
Anyway, My favorite time of the year is around the corner…I’ve seen Bath and Body Works prepping to put the pumpkin scented candles on the shelves and before you know it, Fall will be in full swing - WOOT!
Here are the lists of Fall events at the Topanga Nordstrom - but don’t forget for all you Ventura County fashionistas that the NEW Nordstrom’s is going to be having a grand opening at The Thousand Oaks Mall too this fall! I had an appointment with the fabulous Georgie B. and had to get kind of tricky with my convincing skills to go black for summer. Makeup tutorial using shades of silver to match my Chloe Paddington. It totally worked, and I’m a happy raven haired vixen during the hottest season. Rawr!
Haven’t you heard?? Cheap is the NEW Black! I scored these fabulous fake eyelashes at the 99 cent store and get this - they were 2 packs for 99 cents.
Holla! I’m super mad that I even forked over 12 bucks at the MAC store for lashes that I ended up losing after a few too many cosmos the last time I needed some eye bling, but never again! I’ve also seen some $1 buck lashes at E.L.F that even come with a tube of glue - now THAT’s a deal and a half.
I don’t know about this though, I’m going to have to do some ‘investigating’ because they are claiming a promotion of free shipping over $75, but none of their product costs more than $1, so in order to get free shipping I’m going to have to buy 75 pairs of lashes?? LOL Comeon…gimme a deal!
I received this email below regarding e.l.f. products. I checked it out and tis legit gals! I’ve never used this product and I am curious to know if it’s any good, especially if Nordstroms is taking it over. Any of our Spa-View”ers” out there try it? Let me know the verdict, if anything…the brushes might be a good deal. So have fun and stock up without breaking the bank for a change on beauty products. Check it!
However, even with that charge it’s cheaper than buying make-up anywhere else and it is fun to try things when you don’t have to worry about the cost! They have powder, mascara, brushes, nail polish, you name it ..
Just thought I’d pass along the good deal. Also, if you use the coupon code: CAROLINA you will get $ off your purchase.
So Kat Von D launched her own makeup line available for a “limited time’ (read: to see if it sells) at Sephora.com. The colors are super fall 07-like, and if you ask me, and since this is my site, I’m going to assume that you asked me, tattoo design stuff is soooo last season. Maybe even 2 seasons ago now that I think about it. Maybe if she would have launched 2 fall seasons ago along with Ed Hardy, it may have been a huge success. Now? Anyone can get a private labeling makeup line from pretty much anywhere and while Sephora is a great outlet for distribution, um, personally, I think she wears MAC, and I’m not going for it…
For now. We all know I’ve eaten my words many times over. Here’s the method to my madness: I give Kat her props at inking flesh. I wouldn’t, however, trust her recommendation on actual SKIN products to put on my face - but then again, I wouldn’t really get a tattoo either. It’s kind of like Salt n Peppa coming out with a hair line. Which is yet, another Dione Warwick type phenom, and totally another post on another day, maybe even in another decade.
Ohhh you know I have made 2 trips to my local CVS pharmacy to come up on the buy 1 get 1 free sale that they are holding for the High Pigment line - stock up! Everytime I go, the pickings are slim, but I am sure they have to stock up at some point…right?
