There’s few things as good for the soul as yummy ice cream, except maybe knowing that when you are eating the good stuff AND proceeds are giving BACK to the very core of how you got the yum in the first place. Or simply put, Hagen Daaz’s new Vanilla Honey Bee Ice Cream is giving back a portion of the profits to aide in figuring out how to save the honey bee population that is struggling to stay alive
Here’s some text direct from the official website , which by the way is a SUPER cute interactive website with gorgeous animation and cutting edge navigation that is something fun that the kids can do with you, while learning a bit about the importance of the honeybee role in providing us with fabulous products!
“our vanilla honey bee ice cream blends creamy vanilla with a touch of golden honey. we’ve given this sweet flavor an even sweeter purpose: funding research to protect disappearing honey bee populations.
honey bees play a key role in creating ingredients (almonds, strawberries) used in nearly 40% of our flavors. learn about the honey bee’s plight and how you can make a difference at helpthehoneybees.com”

Alot of people aren’t realizing that along with the sub-prime mortgage crisis going on, not only are people losing their homes, but many of them are having to move to apartment style living that don’t allow pets - especially big dogs. If you have a home and want a dog, rescuing is one of the best feeling things you can do.
If you can’t adopt, you can spread the word, or donate some stuff to the local animal shelters to make the homeless animals a bit more comfy…I rescued Cha Cha from pet-finder.com and he is one of the best things that have ever happened to me!
I saw this story featured on one of the NYSE shows with Ted Turner, who ironically was speaking on the importance of internet connectivity and was promoting a fantastic program which users can donate $10 to purchase mosquito nets to aid in the campaign against malaria in Africa, but he announced the wrong domain…twice. So here is my attempt in spreading the word: Click here to send your net.
Insecticide-treated bed nets can keep a family safe for up to four years.
Nothing But Nets has partnered with the Measles Initiative to deliver the nets to even the most hard-to-reach areas of Africa.
Instead of buying your designer mascara this time around, buy some cheapie stuff at the grocery store and send the difference to make a difference! The difference between designer mascara and drug store mascara is approximately 10 bucks.
Many of you know that I adopted Cha Cha from petfinder.com and totally recommend adoption/rescuing a dog before purchasing, especially from a dog store which are typical culprits of purchasing puppies from horrible conditions called puppymills. Cha Cha was a puppymill dog, and although he is much more relaxed around humans now than he probably ever has, he had years of rehabilitation to endure. This season, the Los Angeles animal service facilities are holding a Blankets of Love drive, where you can donate old blankets, towels, newspapers, copying paper etc. for stray & homeless animals awaiting adoption. It’s a proven fact that if a dog is comfortable and feels more cozy, their chance of being adopted into a forever home is much higher.
When you’re doing your spring cleaning this year, be sure to make a separate bag for some or any of these items & drop them off at your local animal shelter - it makes everyone smile & doesn’t cost you a dime! If you have kids, this is such a great project to get them involved in and shows how to contribute positively and regularly in your community.
