Ohhh I have had wayyy too much fun and irresponsible eating/lack of exercise these past few weeks – due to a combination of being overly zealous with the new warm weather, lots of family get-togethers & plain and simply fiesta-overload…and I feel kind of gross this morning.
I’m going on a 2 week ‘wellness bootcamp’ program that I am completely making up on a day by day basis. I’m going to incorporate everything that I already know to be healthy, valid and effective based on my past experiences, and will be posting my progress here on spa-view.com to stay focused. I’m feeling so gross and bloated (probably from the blue air-brushed batman birthday cake, or maybe the home made margaritas & deep fried fish tacos or maybe from the super sized extra chewy peanutbutter cookies) that I’m even going to plan this to take place during two detrimental and difficult effects in a woman’s life…’that time of the month’ AND the July 4th holiday weekend where I will be staying at my parent’s house for a weekend. Woo Ha.
Bring it on baby, I’m ready to get well. Stay tuned.
In case you haven’t heard, West Coast Choppers owner/creator Jesse James is the new face of Kiehl’s. Oo I can’t wait for the campaign to start…it should be better than Becks! I’d much rather see a man’s facial expression than in his digitally enhanced tighty-whities…but that’s just me, and I’m a girl
Anyway, I’ve not had any response for the Kiehl’s men’s line, but I do have a couple of sister in laws that are fans of the lip gloss, and I have the drying mask from the skincare line, and it’s pretty nice, pretty reasonable, and available at your local Nordstrom’s.
Update** The Jesse James items are packaged as “The Dopp Kit” the kit contains Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash, “White Eagle” Ultimate Brushless Shave Cream, Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap, Facial Fuel Energizing Moisture Treatment and a deluxe sample of Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. It all comes in a leather man-bag with a vintage bike inspired graphic on the front, so you won’t feel so girlie…LOL! The kit runs around $66 bucks at your local Kiehl’s store, or Kiehl’s online.
Ok – this month my personal space plan is going to be to create a peaceful and beautiful powder room upstairs. We’ve been here over 4 years and it is still a hot mess. I’ve gotten the downstairs bath to have a nice zen-type vibe and include some basic essentials to give me the spa-lifestyle here at home:
Ok, totally off topic (but 100% relevant). I ran across this article today and thought it interesting…
“Telstra, the biggest phone company in Australia, has removed all the corporate screen savers from the 36,000 computers in its offices. What will happen? The change will cut tons of CO2, which they claim will be the equivalent of taking 140 cars off the road for a year. Good on ya, mate.”
Ok, so I finally got around to getting a few good uses of the new MAC Volcanic Ash exfoliator stuff, and although I probably won’t run back and get it (since it’s available for a limited time only) I WILL give it a good review, because it cleaned the hell out of my face, shoulders, neck and anywhere else that I put it on.
It was a bit too much for my face, but as a body exfoliator, it pretty much owns over any other scrub I have used – and is almost as good as a trip to the Korean style day spa, minus the buckets of water being splashed on you during the rinse cycle. One word of caution – be sure you have LOTS of moisturizing agents because this stuff will wipe out any and everything from your face. I have pretty balanced skin, so I can’t say if it works well for either oily prone or extra dry prone skin, but it will give you a blank canvas to start all over with.
Ok chicas – I just got an interesting email regarding the whole teeth whitening phenom that is taking over our society…check it out – here is a recap:
“From what I can see tooth whitening evolved faster then the research needed to establish safety and effectiveness. Each product line pushed for their own bias studies, and educators who’s facilities get discounts on bleaching products if not gratis.
The only resource I trust for non-bias studies is Clinical Review (CR), formally Clinical Research Associates (CRA). They have a history of good dependable work.
What is needed right now is for people to write to the California Dental Board and tell them their stories. Demand for guidelines that secure safe parameters for the dental office and the patient.”
Ok so there you go. Drop an email to that address box so that your voice can be heard, and remember that if no one speaks, then nothing gets done in your favor.
Nothing is more sexy than your dude having dope skin and has enough sense than just thinking soap and water will do the trick. That’s all fine and dandy when you’re young but just like us gals, age will eventually catch up and if you didn’t take the proper precautions in the beginning, the bar soap will no longer cut it and then it’ll be too late. You wouldn’t want your women to age prematurely would you? And no, I’m not saying I want my dude in front of the mirror longer than I, ugh…that is another topic we will discuss in the near future because that is not the biz! I’m just saying that it’s cool if they’re confident and want to look good. A guy that takes care of himself and gives a damn about what he looks like is super dope sexy! Don’t you agree ladies? Us ladies take the time to keep ourselves up and look good, so our dudes should do the same. There’s nothing more gratifying than walking around side by side thinking you look good and also knowing that your dude looks just as good or even better! That’s what’s up ! Soooo….with that said, fortunately there are a lot of products out there geared for men only without all the fussy packaging. These products pack the same punch as all the millions of women products out there, but are specifically for men and their needs. The basic men skin care line includes a cleanser, exfoliant, a shave prep, shaving cream, and a moisturizer. Of course different lines carry different items but that is the gist of what a guy should use daily. Here is a list of the top 5 men’s product lines from all different price ranges that I love and recommend you guys give a try. Ladies, if your guys need a little nudge in this department I suggest you treat your dude to any of these products and I guarantee they’ll use it if its within their reach!
For a while, I needed some professional help getting my shoe collection under control. Thanks to Carmen from OptimalMindset.com, I was able to get not only my shoes, but also my handbags under control and wayyyy more enjoyable. Thanks a bunch Carmen! Check out OptimalMindset.com here.
Haven’t you heard?? Cheap is the NEW Black! I scored these fabulous fake eyelashes at the 99 cent store and get this – they were 2 packs for 99 cents.
Holla! I’m super mad that I even forked over 12 bucks at the MAC store for lashes that I ended up losing after a few too many cosmos the last time I needed some eye bling, but never again! I’ve also seen some $1 buck lashes at E.L.F that even come with a tube of glue – now THAT’s a deal and a half.
I don’t know about this though, I’m going to have to do some ‘investigating’ because they are claiming a promotion of free shipping over $75, but none of their product costs more than $1, so in order to get free shipping I’m going to have to buy 75 pairs of lashes?? LOL Comeon…gimme a deal!
