So Kat Von D launched her own makeup line available for a “limited time’ (read: to see if it sells) at Sephora.com. The colors are super fall 07-like, and if you ask me, and since this is my site, I’m going to assume that you asked me, tattoo design stuff is soooo last season. Maybe even 2 seasons ago now that I think about it. Maybe if she would have launched 2 fall seasons ago along with Ed Hardy, it may have been a huge success. Now? Anyone can get a private labeling makeup line from pretty much anywhere and while Sephora is a great outlet for distribution, um, personally, I think she wears MAC, and I’m not going for it…
For now. We all know I’ve eaten my words many times over. Here’s the method to my madness: I give Kat her props at inking flesh. I wouldn’t, however, trust her recommendation on actual SKIN products to put on my face - but then again, I wouldn’t really get a tattoo either. It’s kind of like Salt n Peppa coming out with a hair line. Which is yet, another Dione Warwick type phenom, and totally another post on another day, maybe even in another decade.

Ok so I talked with Rosalinda yesterday for a bit, and she told me about her friend (of course these stories are always 3rd person removed…) that had eyelash extensions and when they fell out, all of her lashes fell out because they glue your existing lashes with the synthetic ones so regardless of what stage your eyelashes are in (they usually fall out in cycles, hence why they never seem to fall out) but since all the lashes are glued with the fake ones, they all fall out within the same period of time, causing loss in a larger mass than usual. I dunno…I’ve heard good things, but now I’m starting to hear a few bad things too…

Ok, so I have sort of gotten used to the rare minerals night treatment, but I’m feeling a bit more dry than usual. The SA at the boutique said that it would be a few days to overcome the dryness - and today is glycolic peel day so I’m sure there’s gonna be even more dryness over the next few days - good thing I don’t have any major plans over the next few days in case I start to peel like a snake ![]()

While it does smell divine, has a lovely ingredients list and you could probably eat it, the Bare Escentual’s Rare Minerals powder cleanser DOES NOT remove eye makeup, like Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple or DHC’s deep cleansing oil does.
Just totally FYI.

Ok so I’ve finally zero’d in on what I do absolutely love from the Origins line. Although I do think its probably not a product I will buy for myself too often (due to it’s price level) I WOULD totally suggest as a gift for someone, OR if you are looking for a gift for me, then you know what to get LOL!
Staci’s bday recently passed and since I was feeling under the weather, I was able to send an e-card directly to her email so she could get some goodies via the net without having to deal with a card or finding the nearest retailer, which was super easy & fabulous…and who doesn’t like easy & fabulous?
Anyway, here’s my Origins Love List:
Ginger Souffle™ Whipped body cream
A Perfect World™ White tea skin guardian
Modern Friction™ for the Body: Nature’s gentle dermabrasion
Plantidote™ Mega-Mushroom Eye Serum
Free Shipping with any Origins Mother’s Day Gift Set 5.1.08 thru 5.31.08. Enter Code 05081LS

Ok so after a couple of failed attempts at being schooled on how to apply the BE stuff at Sephora, I decided to make my way into the local Bare Escentual’s actual boutique (this is the 3rd time in a row that I’ve attempted to talk with a consultant - there usually is a waiting list).
Anyway, shout out to Nikki who took her time to show me and my mom how to put on a fabulous face, even under the pressure of being short a couple of girls. Just for the record - I ended up buying another batch of Rare Minerals because I bought my last one from amazon.com and didn’t really know how to put it on, and just washed my face with the Bare Escentuals cleanser, and I promise you all, my skin feels like SILK!! Raise the Roof!
I’ve got to call mama tomorrow morning and see how her cleanser is working out. It took off my makeup, but I didn’t have any mascara on so I don’t know how good its going to be on getting my chola-gunk mascara off, but will totally let you know. PEACE and happy monday tomorrow!

Yesterday Rosalinda (she hates when I call her Rosa btw) stopped by the studio to say hi & visit for a bit, and she told me that she managed to complete the Master Cleanse program for 6 days and then had to stop, and then went and got some Microdermabrasion from Dr. Mark’s.
WOW dude, her skin looked fabulous. I’m totally going to look into that and see what i can do to get that skin too.
I want some!

Does anyone know if the MAC recycling program of returning 6 empty containers is actually good for any product, or is it just the lipsticks? I remember hearing somewhere that the Viva Glam products are exempt from the program, but I’m just wondering because it’s time to start tossing my winter stuff. thanks!

Ohhh you know I have made 2 trips to my local CVS pharmacy to come up on the buy 1 get 1 free sale that they are holding for the High Pigment line - stock up! Everytime I go, the pickings are slim, but I am sure they have to stock up at some point…right?

Yep…you read it right! A variety of Bare Escentual mineral makeup packs are at Target in the cosmetic aisle, specially packaged & running at $49 & upward for different ‘packs’…A starter color kit, an eye kit, a jewel kit & a variety kit that I’ve forgotten the name of. Having purchased my BE as a kit, I am kind of leary of them now & have been trying to get my face matched at the actual Bare Escentuals store, but every time I go in there, the place is super packed and no one has time for me.
The first kit I bought was actually from Sephora and to be honest, I think I got the wrong color. My additional stuff was purchased from ULTA, and it was ok, but still, not really a good personalization of what I need. I think I might try going again this week to the BE store to get some mineral makeup…and if it’s crowded again, I will try the MAC mineralize line instead.

A while back, before I met Georgi the Magician, my hair stylist suggested that maybe I should try the Nioxin line for my thinning hair. I was so excited after doing my research on the product that I ended up buying the econo jumbo size of the whole line. After some months of usage, I saw no improvement. I spent a few more weeks researching some alternatives to fuller hair that didn’t have to do with surgical proceedures, as women’s rogaine made me light headed, and the Nioxin scalp treatment thing turned my hairline beet red for about 30 minutes (but didn’t sting) and saw that alot of suggestions had to do with lightening the hair so that it blends more with the scalp.
I tried this, and indeed it seemed to camo’d my scalp much more…I spent around 300 bucks on the lightening procedure, color correction & sew in extensions and ended up looking fabulous! The next day I washed my hair with the Nioxin and even tho it was for chemically treated hair, the blueish pigment of the product turned my new highlights green. Another 80 dollars to remove the blueish tinge, I finally gave up on Nioxin. Another product in the ‘totally doesn’t work’ pile.
