Too Faced Liqui-Fi eyeliner

Jun 19 2006

Ladies!!!!

I just got this super nifty liquid eyeliner thing from Too Faced at Sephora…it’s a liquid liner that you dab on whatever eyeshadow you choose and it transforms it into a perfect match waterproof liner! I don’t know if I’m explaining it right so here is the info from the site:

“Magically transform your favorite eye shadow into a waterproof, smudge-proof liquid liner with this unique, clear liquid and built-in felt tip precision eyeliner brush. Imagine, a warehouse full of different eyeliner colors all in one little bottle! All those forgotten shadows at the bottom of your make-up drawer will be given “new life” as gorgeous new liners, and your favorite shadows will become your “only in my wildest fantasies, I can’t live without” lid liners!”

anyway - it totally works fabulous - and it wipes clean with just a tissue and NO cleaner needed! I am pretty excited about this and wanted to share :)

Sensitive Dry Scalp?

Jun 19 2006

I have sensitive scalp and thin hair - here is what I do to sooth my skin and thicken up my hair…

once a week:
aveda first and foremost…then

Product List:
Rusk green tea or alphalfa sprout shampoo
Paul Mitchel green tea special shampoo and/or conditioner
Aveda Shampure

the thing that I have found with fine/limp hair is that you can’t use the same products over and over because it tends to buildup residue and then makes it more limp and less manageable. Hair thickening treatments make it worse because all it does is deposit waxy residue onto your hair and make it heavier.

you might look into going to a health food store and finding some tea tree oil and adding a few drops into your shampoo regimine to sooth your scalp, and most minty products also will relieve the itch and you will begin to look forward to washing your hair!

good luck :)

Nuetrogena Tan

Jun 19 2006

I tried neutrogena and was pretty happy with the results, the only thing I would warn on is that you make sure you spray it in an area that you cannot ruin - like outside lol.

the first time I sprayed it on, I got it on the walls and now there is brown goop on the walls that refuses to come off. the second time I sprayed it in my hallway which is hard wood flooring and it made it super slippery that on my way out i totally slipped and fell on my butt!

I decided to not use spray tans in a can anymore because of the drama they caused that had nothing to do with my tan. But I totally dig Neutrogena products - they are competatively priced and pretty good products to boot!

Remember to Exfoliate before sunless tanning application, and moisturize after! Happy bronzing!

Bumble & Bumble hair powder anyone?

Jun 19 2006

I was reading in a magazine over the weekend about b & b’s ‘hair powder’ which comes in an aerosol spray which is supposed to help absorb oil and make your hair style last longer? Has anyone actually used this?

I get so annoyed because I go to the shop every 2 weeks to get my hair pressed/flattened and it only lasts 2 days, maybe 3 if I put it in a ponytail on the 3rd day because I have really oily hair, and I would LOVE to figure out a way to extend it another couple of days…

Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup

Jun 19 2006

I bought a Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup starter kit from sephora and am SO in lovewith it - so much so that I threw ALL my foundation stuff away after about 2 weeks of using BE stuff. Here is what I have found works best:

- use the primer lotion regularly - even if you don’t use the foundation every day (I don’t - just on the days I go into the studio).

- wait about 20 minutes after putting the primer stuff on to dry off before applying the foundation - it will glide on much smoother

- instead of the concealer, for spots and blemishes, dab your finger with some water and then dab some foundation and use that to cover dark circles, blemishes etc. - you will get true color match and it wont be as expensive to buy the additional ‘bisque’ concealer.

- after you apply your foundation, use your kabuki brush quickly and like a buffing motion - don’t re-apply any foundation when buffing - just buff out what you already have on.

- use the warmth SPARINGLY and sort of as blush, plus on forhead and nose - but no where else because then it just looks weird. when you finish with mineral veil, you can blend in your warmth and get the final look.

the whole thing takes less than 4 minutes once you get the hang of it. Like I told all the stylists at the studio - it’s ALL about minerals! Toss out all the other stuff!

Dr. Brandt’s Crease Release

Jun 19 2006

Ok here is a tidbit review for you ladies in your mid 30’s with crows feet or like me and my friend’s like to call the forehead-taco (that frown line in between your eyebrows). Dr Brandt’s Crease Release.

Beauty.com

My friend called me in the middle of the night super excited because she said she had discovered botox in a bottle and that I had to take my butt to nordys the next day and buy some…so of course, I check it out. $150.00 for a little tub of squishy cream! I asked the SA if it really worked and she said that she had seen it work but that it wears off. She also told me that I could put some on my face and try it out - so I did, and it did work!!! I guess whatever chemicals they have in the cream actually “fills in” somehow the wrinkles on your face and smooths it out big time! Continue reading ‘Dr. Brandt’s Crease Release’

MAC Pigments

Jun 19 2006

Due to the origin of MAC as a professional cosmetic line, and the wide range of clients (professional to general public) not all MAC products are designed with the average consumer in mind. This is often the case with many PRO products, as well as some pigments. The name pigment can be misleading, as they are not pure pigments, but rather highly pigmented multi-purpose loose color powders. Due to the pigments and dyes in some MAC pigments, they can be hazardous if used in various facial areas, mainly the eye or lip area.

you have to check which chemical compounds are actually being used in various pigments and then go from there. I usually mix mine with lotion, water or additional eyeshadow depending on what I am actually trying to achieve. they can be used in nail polish, lip gloss, lipstick, mascara, hair gel, as a loose eye shadow, as a loose blusher, as a loose highlighter, as a loose bronzer, as a body sparkle or body paint etc…

MAC stuff is available at Macy’s

Burke Williams - Sherman Oaks

Jun 19 2006

Ultimate Facial
$165.00

The website claims that It gives new meaning to the concept of teamwork. Clients have been known to beg us not to stop. During this special facial, a massage therapist stretches, rubs and coaxes the aches and pains from your feet. But here is what really happened:

icon

My facial starts off with a steaming and my therapist (who is a doll!) tells me that the therapist doing my foot massage will be in shortly. After about 10 minutes, she goes outside to see where my foot therapist is, and comes back with no word. She continues with the treatment, telling me the whole time that my foot therapist will be in, and guess what? 25 minutes in, she still has not shown up. Finally around 3/4 of the way in, she shows up, rubs my feet for a little bit and goes away. I sit with the face mask on while the therapist upsells the product and I am finished. I feel ripped off, but kind of bad because my facial therapist was so sweet. My final thoughts? Never again to Burke Williams for any kind of facial!

Soft Touch Chiropractic & Acupuncture

I had always been curious about acupuncture, mysterious, holistic and peaceful, I finally decided to take the plunge after receiving numerous coupons in the mail. An introductory offer for $64.00, I had an appointment for the next week.  Once I arrived, I was told that the appointment would take an hour and a half because of all the testing stuff that would be going on. Ok so I get there and I’m kind of nervous and excited at the same time. My acupuncturist has a thick accent and sometimes doesn’t make sense in her sentence structure, but I can deal with that. She tells me to call her Dr. Mabby and that if I decide to become her patient, I have to promise that I will listen to everything she says. Umm ok – that is kind of weird, but ok.  Continue reading ‘Soft Touch Acupuncture’
